iMovie for iPad

Course Description

In this course, we will explore filmmaking through interactive sessions using
iMovie for the iPad.

Course Objectives

We will start by gaining an overview of the iMovie software as well as outline basic concepts in filmmaking. After we get through the basics, we will cover more advanced topics such as learning concepts in film editing, how to film with the iPad and adjust its camera settings, learning the different kinds of camera angles, adding transitions, filters & effects, working with audio, overlays, and even working with a green-screen. Students will then learn through a variety of engaging projects such as:

Required Student Set-up:

The student will need to have 2 screens to be able to do this activity. One of the screens would need to be an iPad with the latest edition of iMovie installed, and the other would need to be a separate device (laptop, smartphone, tablet) with Zoom installed so that they can participate in the class and view my directions. In addition to iMovie, I ask that students have a green cloth or paper to use as a green screen, a green t-shirt or towel works great! Lastly, you will need an iPad holder to film your projects with. I recommend a gooseneck-style iPad holder like this one on Amazon. In my opinion, these offer more versatility than a traditional tripod as they are easier to set up for different angles that would be more difficult to do with a tripod. IMPORTANT: make sure that whichever iPad holder you purchase will fit the size of your iPad.

THIS CLASS MEETS 2x PER WEEK ON WEDNESDAY & FRIDAY FOR 3 WEEKS. Calendar invites will be sent upon registration.
